After taking a degree in law, Johannes Grüneberg originally considered a career in the art world. Accordingly, in 2000 he joined the Old Master’s pictures department of the auction house Christie's, London, but proceeded with his legal career at the law firm Heuking, Kuehn, Luer, Heussen & Wojtek in Potsdam, followed by his articles in Berlin. In 2004 he joined Savills Berlin and was subsequently hired by the freshly established PRICOA - MBO Rockspring Property Asset Management. Over the following six years Johannes Grüneberg was instrumental in securing off-market transactions for Rockspring's highly specified German Retail Box Fund (GRBF). In his role as transaction manager he was very
much the architect of the fund's diversified covenant profile. Due to his responsibility for deal sourcing and his extensive coverage of Germany's retail warehouse landscape he established outstanding expertise in Germany's large floor plate retail sector. In 2011, when Johannes Grüneberg joined Colliers, his investor background played a major role throughout numerous sales mandates including retail warehouse, shopping malls and high street retail. Notable Colliers mandates included the sale of Germany' s most prominent hypermarket, the EDEKA Zurheide in Düsseldorf-Reisholz, the visionary neighbourhood shopping centre Planetencenter in Hannover-Garbsen and the iconic Kö Galerie in Düsseldorf.
